Villa Calcinaia is a historic building
dating back to the 17th Century. Originally it was a large
farmstead belonging to an aristocratic Florentine family.
It stands on the Florentine hills in a quiet, relaxing area
and is surrounded by a park of over 20 hectares.
The villa consists of two adjoining appartments, which
have been furnished with interesting antiques. Both are
on the first floor and very light. Part of the villa is
the home of the owners, who are always happy to advise on
the best places to visit, local museums and the best restaurants
and shops. Guests can play golf and even organize deer-
and chamois-hunting expeditions to the mountains. About
4 km. from the villa there is a riding school with a federated
instructor, some tennis courts and a fish-pond. There is
a good restaurant just 350 m. away and a Post Office at
1½ km. The centre of Florence itself is only 13 km
away, 15 minutes on the dual carriageway which links Florence
to Pisa and Livorno.
